Windshear by Baron-Engel Windshear by Baron-Engel
I have over the last several months been involved with a MLP based RPG developed by one of my roommates Dave Bryant [link]

This is my main character Windshear. She is a member of the Gallopston Coastal Patrol. Think of a pony version of Coast Guard. While she one of the best Coastal Patrolers in Gallopston \ She is quite a smart ass which has made her relationship with Fog Bank the Station Commander rocky at times. Also she is rather odd pony in many ways. Other ponies will quietly point at her and say. "That's what happens when a pony drinks too much sea water."

She is obsessed with the idea of sea ponies and really believes they exist. Along with zombie ponies. She's an avid reader of those awful dime store, trashy, 19th century adventure novels and magazines. She is also a member of a couple eccentric groups involved in investigating paranormal events in Equestria and beyond.

Windshear's other obsession is music and she loves to go to pubs, taverns, and concert halls. When she can't do that she loves to listen to music on her prized gramophone. In fact her gramophone and her record collection are some of her most valuable possessions. That and her recently purchased newfangled typewriter, which is using to write her treatise about sea pony civilization.

The sketch on the left is of her in one of her little black dresses that she likes to pubs in. The middle is her usual outfit for Coastal Patrol Duty. The right is her just being cool....at least in her mind. Her first piece of advice for any new member of the Coastal Patrol. "Don't forget to put a lanyard on your sandwich. That way you won't drop it."

By the way here is some setting information about the locale where the game sessions are primarily taking place. [link]

Interestingly enough, I'm currently RPing a bat-pony who is also interested in the paranormal and music (though he is usually the one playing and singing instead of just listening).

Windshear is one of the best characters I have come up for an RPG. Although she sometimes drives the rest of the party bonkers!

For the record, Windshear is out of her little pony mind. For your own safety, don't EVER give her a badge. For anything.

But Windshear already has one! And she keeps it nice and shiny to! She just likes it when has more badges!

I... I gotta admit... I'm not normally an MLP fan, but the little black dress is rather rawr.

this sounds awesome, I know a few bronies in my local area who might actually be willing to try something like this... or I could try to host it through FB with those friends.

Well you can download the rules and give them a try. I have run several sessions and it is very easy roll up a character and play. Even narrating a session is fairly easy since it is designed from the D6 system and it has simplified even more.

In fact Dave originally designed Pony Tales so that the original target audience for FIM, young girls around ten years old or less, who may have never played a traditional RPG in their lives could quickly figure out how to play the game.

this is incredible! as a D&D player i could see that the only difficult thing to making it as a game would be any sort of melee weapon... but the sheer mechanics of it are amazing! you truly do have a gifted friend.

fortunately for me, I am a relatively experienced 3.5e D&D DM and my friends are learned in the ways of nerds...lol... so i will pay your friend's profile a visit and try to set up a game with my friends.

Sounds like she's at least entertaining to be around. Zombie ponies huh? Is that a new fad going around Equestria or something? I love her expression in the third image. It says "I may not be as cool as I think I am, but I am at least cooler than you think I am."

Several of the party members think she is an absolute lunatic! And hey, she's gone as Luna for Nightmare Night so maybe they are right!

Gone as Luna on Nightmare Night. Damn. Do many ponies go as either of the Princesses? Little fillies I can imagine. But adults? And have you actually met her, or is this a result of the whole invisible camera crew thing?

Well remember this part of roleplaying game not my dreamscapes. However Windshear has met Luna at least twice although in one case it occurred off camera as part of background information.

She might be right... =P

I like her dress on the left. Looks very much like something from Sailor Moon.

Windshear squeals in glee.

"Ah! Another open mind to the concept! Yeah! Would you be interested in give my manuscript a read? It is only 200 pages long, but I think I have gotten the first part pretty firmed up now."

"Yes, please. I know a few historians who could have proof that sea ponies exist, or at least existed, and they're going to want to take a look at your notes for comparison. And thanks for the open-minded compliment. There's few of us truly open-minded left in the world..."

In a RPG-related note, I've been downloading a ton of rulebooks in PDF format, including Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and boy were you right. It sucks. Thank goodness for Palladium...

Windshear clops her hooves in happiness.

"Have you met Professor Loosenut from Manehatten? He has been very supportive of my studies. He even had me come back to Manehatten and speak at one of his expositions. I was so honored and was really thrilled to talk to other like minded ponies about the topic!"

"Hm, no, but I know this one lady, Miss Faerie Star, she not only believes in seaponies but also others like flutter ponies, twinkle-eyed ponies and other long-forgotten breeds, not to mention several monsters and creatures that make Changelings look like butterflies! She's not very fond of non-believers, either."

It is actually a fairly vibrant yellow color. for the back of the vest. However since Windshear is bright violet in color she's vibrant to begin with.

One of these days I'll find an MLP RPG myself. In the meantime, cool character, and that's definitely a LITTLE black dress, especially on her flank. O.O
