Training 01

Early one winter morning there was a knock at the front door of our cottage in my Equestria dreamscape. On the other side of the door was an old stallion who did handypony work around Ponyville. His name was Bent Nail and he was here to do some minor construction out in our little barn. I had no idea what he was talking about but Petina and Carousel quickly took charge of the situation and directed the old stallion. Apparently they had hired him to build a small platform in the barn for Rainbow Dash's training. Even more important Petina had purchased from the rail station a length of steel pipe that was the same diameter as the pylons used at Best Young Fliers Competition. Over the course of the day Bent Nail sawed, hammered by late afternoon he completed his task.

Located in the center of the barn was a platform large enough one maybe two ponies to stand on. Emerging from the center of the platform and going up into one of the ceiling beams about twelve feet above was the steel pipe. The other end of the pipe was anchored into the ground underneath the platform. The platform did make it harder to move things in and out of the barn, but if Bent Nail had any questions about its use he kept to himself. After collecting his bits and a poppy seed cake Carousel had baked as a thank you bonus, he hitched up is work wagon and trundled into the late afternoon setting sun. Once he'd left the two mares made a beeline for the barn.

Now, when Carousel is awake she is a professional exotic dancer baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… in my Angel and Knight Prime dreamscape, and Petina has done her fair share of it to. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… Both of them are now a routine act at the Bucking Mare in Ponyville, but the Inn at this time does not have a pole installed so neither of the mares have had a chance to try pole dancing with hooves yet. It took most of the evening but by bedtime they had started to get the hang of it. Over the next couple days the two of them were out in the practicing in the barn to the old gramophone. The next morning they sent me to find Rainbow Dash to schedule her first dance lesson. Around two afternoon RD arrived and her official training began.

At first RD was confused by all the fuss Petina and Carousel were making about the pole and how Dash could exploit it in her favor during the performance. To Dash pylons were things you avoided touching during performances. They knocked you off course and disrupted your flight routine, and besides it hurt slamming into one of them! It was just a stupid pole how could this make her routine so memorable. Then Petina and Carousel did a quick demonstration for the blue pegasi mare. She just sat there amazed. Oh, that was what they were talking about when they said the pole was important.


Now Rainbow Dash has not trained as a dancer but she is an athlete and possess good coordination and reflexes so she able to start picking up the basics in relatively short order. The part that Petina and Carousel needed to work on was RD's more subtle aspects of body language and facial expressions. In fact Dash was given homework to practice in front of the one mirror she has in her cloud house.
