Rebuilding by Baron-Engel Rebuilding by Baron-Engel
Winter is finally winding down in my Equestria dreamscape and for many of the ponies in Ponyville it couldn't come too soon. This had been winter that will be discussed for decades to come. With finding of dead animals in Ponyville. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… The war with the dragons in the North. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… The unscheduled violent blizzard. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… The ominous light show in the sky one night baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… , and the violent battle at Sweet Apple Acres baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… and subsequent details of what happened there has left many a pony looking forward to warmer, sunnier times.

True to their word Celestia and Luna did hold a conference in Canterlot before New Years concerning the events at Sweet Apple Acres and how they had been connected to events earlier in the year. The two sisters were very frank in their explanation of what had occurred and how perilous the threat had been to not only Equestria but the very world. At the same time they did a marvelous job of making certain that ponies were not left in a state of mass paranoia and suspicion. The involvement of Apple family and bearers of the Elements of Harmony was not denied. However the sisters were very careful in explaining Applebloom's and the Apple family's involvement in all of this. They definitely portrayed Applebloom and her family as being as much victims as anyone else. She praised the medical community and Zecora baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… in their attempts to solve the problem. Twilight was present for the conference but only spoke briefly and answered only a handful of questions from the press. She was obviously still recovering from her injuries and medical ordeal. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… Captain Sharp Horn and Dr. Strong Heart also gave brief statements regarding the events. None of the Apple family were present for the conference and the sister made it very clear that they did not want the Apple family hounded by the press and random ponies.

It was announced at the conference that a board of inquiry would be held after Winter Wrap Up to properly document all the events and to gather eyewitness testimonies. However Celestia made it clear that the none of the Apple Family would be brought up on any criminal or civil charges. A royal decree had already issued absolving Applebloom, the Apple Family, and doctors involved in her case from any charges.

The Two Sisters also stated as the conference ended that they would be giving a more detailed account of events in the North soon, but there were still several diplomatic details that needed resolving and until that time they wished to refrain from commenting on what had occurred and what their direct role had been. They did commend the actions of Equestria's military, and they gave their condolences to the families and friends that had lost loved ones in the conflict. With that the conference ended.

For Applebloom the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions as she now has to deal with the results of the last few months. She has begun recovering well from her injuries, although the doctors say that she will probably have some type of scar on her forehead for the rest of her life. Some basic school testing was given to her. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Applebloom had retained very little of the knowledge that the Deception had conveyed through her. All she can remember now is little fragments, fleeting glimpses and tiny tidbits of information. Unfortunately this means that all of tests scores and homework from school has to be tossed out, so this spring Applebloom is going to have work twice as hard to keep up with the rest of her grade.

Of a more immediate concern to Applebloom was her two closest friends Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. Both had been terrified by the Deception and had had their lives threatened by the being. baron-engel.deviantart.com/art… Applebloom didn't know how she could ever make it up to them. Would they even want to be her friends again? Fortunately for her they were some of the best friends one could have. Also it did not hurt that Princess Celestia had sat down with both Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle and had explained to them what had been inflicted on poor Applebloom. So there was no way that two of Cutie Mark Crusaders were going to abandon their other member. Still having to sit down and talk with Scoot and Sweetie was one of the toughest things Applebloom had ever done, but when it was all done she was better for it.

To be continued.

It's just me, or the issue with Deception, while important, would be percieved as barely important by the vast mayority of the population? I'd say it fades into nothing when compared with an armed conflict with casualities.

Anyhow, Apple Bloom is going to have a hard time getting back to normal.

The drama with the Deception is one of those events that has been overshadowed by the war in the North with the Dragons, and in many ways the Apple Family is just fine with that. However years from now as the pony historians sift through the records ponies in general may come to understand just how dangerous the situation at Sweet Apple Acres was.

A real world equivalent might a US. astronomer going through old photo of night shoots and realizing that 70+ years ago and discovering that Earth had terrifying close flyby of an asteroid that would've equaled the Yucatan impact of 60 million years ago if had hit, but no was paying attention to it because Pearl Harbor had just happened.

Anyhow, Apple Bloom is going to have a hard time getting back to normal.

As my dreamscape has progressed it has become more and more obvious that Applebloom may still have a happy life, but she will never have what most ponies would consider a "normal" life now. Too many extraordinary things have occurred to her, and she experienced too many life-changing moments for her to just go back to being an ordinary filly. And for the most part she seems to be okay with that. Applebloom's family still loves, her friends still care about her, the town she lives in and the kingdom it resides in are safe and prosperous, that's enough for her.

That's a good comparision. ANd yeah, the least the Apple would want is ponies getting their muzzles where they're not called.

Hey, who in Equestria has a 'normal' life anyways? Let's be honest, that place is full of extraordinary characters, and there are few that may be called 'normal', even more as we go into the Fandom. Even those background and non-important characters have a more developed story somewhere which is worth reading.

I had a dream last night.

In the middle of the night, in a thunder-and-rainstorm, the door to Carousel Boutique suddenly burst open, and a sobbing, wailing Sweetie Belle ran as fast as she could into the night, on a beeline through town, down the back roads, with the boundless endurance only a terrified child can draw upon.

Out of town, over fences, through the trees, and with a panicked blast from her horn, knocked the front door of the Apple household open. Ignoring everyone jolted awake, she ran sobbing up the stairs, knocked open one last door, and leaped onto Apple Bloom's bed, clutching her friend's legs and sobbing almost incomprehensibly about how sorry she was and how she didn't hate her at all, over and over until she passed out from exhaustion. (That was the scariest part, she was doing that wail-sob-blubbering-disjointed words-hiccup-gasp-wail-sob-hiccup-blubber that a really, honestly crying-terrified child does.)

A very worried and confused group of Apples, and one very-not-ready-to-go-out Rarity who arrived a few moments later, tried a couple times to rouse Sweetie, only to get more confused, groggy blubbering, and terrified wailing when they tried to separate her from Apple Bloom. Eventually Apple Bloom was so terrified of the reaction she refused to let them try to move her friend, either.

I don't know how much later, but eventually Sweetie Belle woke up on her own, and finally managed to explain; Directly to her friend, almost ignoring all the adults around them until she could get it all out. She'd had a terrible nightmare, with that monster thing growing out of Apple Bloom's head again, menacing and terrifying Sweetie Belle for what always seems like an eternity when your dreams get away from you. And no magic night Princess arrived to save her, like with Scootaloo.

And in her mind, she'd hated Apple Bloom. Hated her for bringing the monster back, just to terrify her all over again, with big teeth and scary claws and jagged horns and everything. Hated her like she'd never hated anything before, a horrible, terrible hatred that was so alien to Equestria, so very wrong to exist in their universe. It scared her awake, terrified her that she could feel so much pure rage and malice, even in her dreams, and that she could point it all at her best friend.

Jolted awake, Sweetie knew in her head and in her heart that the monster she'd seen in the orchard that day wasn't Apple Bloom at all, that it was as much a monster and a danger toward Apple Bloom as it was to her; But, as she said over and over, "Dreams aren't real, and they don't work right when they're scary". The intense hate the dream conjured up terrified her so much, Sweetie Belle had burst awake, lost her dinner into her blankets, and panicked. Somewhat in that order. Her panicking mind told her she had to tell Apple Bloom she was sorry for thinking those things about her friend, before the hate grew and infected Apple Bloom so she'd hate Sweetie Belle right back.

Around there the dream started to fall apart, but I can remember there was a lot of mutual tearful apologies about things that were done in dreams, things that others dreamed others doing in dreams, admissions of how much they really did care for each other in the real world, and quiet affirmation of the same by older sisters in the background.

Somewhere before the dream completely dissolved, Rarity realized just how disheveled she was, commandeered the bathroom to make herself presentable, and after a lot of noise that included power tools and jackhammers, emerged 'acceptably presentable' in time for waffles for breakfast.

And then I was awake and craving waffles.

Well, it sounds like some of my dreamscape has burrowed into your subconscious. It is amazing how a vivid dream can leave such a strong impact even after you wake.

FYI. because I usual have my sense of smell and taste in the Equestria dreams I have also awoke and found myself craving whatever I had been eating in the dream.

I think it's because of the new Sleep Apnea drugs I'm on. They warned me I might start having vivid dreams because I'm finally getting REM sleep.

This was the first dream I've had in, quite literally, years.

Ah, by the sounds of it you are getting a chance to experience what happens to me several times a week on average.

Thank goodness that all went well. Glad to see their friendship is still strong. Still, I dread what Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon will concoct to torment Applebloom. Not to mention all the homework she'll have to wade through.
