New hobby by Baron-Engel New hobby by Baron-Engel

Another Season-Two moment in my Equestria dreamscape, when Rainbow Dash succeeded in putting herself in the hospital after an accident during a routine acrobatic practice session I thought Petina was going have a heart attack. She feared that all of the hard work both Carousel and her had put into training RD for the Best Young Fliers Competition link link was going to be for nothing. link link  After all the competition was just a couple months away.

Fortunately Dash is healthy young mare and quickly bounced back from her injuries, and while in hospital RD discovered a fascination in reading. In particular Daring Do novels became one of Dash’s new joys. Upon hearing this Petina asked RD if at some point she’d like to be a pre-reader for Petina’s first full-length novel “The forbidden desires of Lady Fairhooves”. Petina describe the story as being action/ adventure in nature.  Besides Petina was lining up the other Mane Six to pre-readers to.  Dash said she was curious and Petina promised her a manuscript in few weeks. All Petina needed to do now was ask Twilight and Applejack sign on to the project.

Yeah with her ballistic lifestyle she'd have to sign so many waivers it would make insurance almost irrelevant.

Hey every pony needs a certain amount of dirt in their diet. Pegasus ponies just a more, um, ah, dramatic way of getting it.

I can imagine your mind's version of the book is more "Indiana Jones-y" than it already was. Exploding French heads, frozen monkey brains, evil Indians ripping human chests off still-living people, oh my!

That I'm looking forward to. I can see you and Carousel reacting with horror to the Changelings, while Petina is going: "So, they feed on love and can turn into anything? Hmm..."

The big question is what are the effects to a pony when its love is being/has been fed on.

Well, if we want to go by the IDW comics and the show, it can be very nasty for the victim. Whether that happens all the time or simply because Chrysalis and her swarm are gluttons who don't care about their 'donors' is another story.

Either Twilight would be deeply offended at where Petina's priorities are, or the Changelings would beg Pettie for mercy only five minutes in.

Yes. I can see Chrysalis dragging herself into Celestia's throne room and saying, "If you send us to the moon right now and keep us away from *shudder*, her, I swear you'll never see us again."

Twilight will tear the thing to shreds.  Figuratively speaking, of course.  She will be brutal.  Fluttershy will give her usual nondescript, "Oh, um, it was nice."  Pinkie Pie will fangirl over it even though she won't comprehend much of what she's supposed to be sitting still and reading.  Rarity will probably give the most helpful critique, having the most experience with those sorts of novels.  And Applejack won't make it through the first chapter.  Big MacIntosh, on the other hoof...

You're assuming Twilight will even crack the cover. But if she does (and doesn't dump it once she reaches "certain parts"), she'll focus on the technical aspects of writing and what's being depicted.

And that's precisely what she'll be relentless on.  Smut writers aren't known for being wordsmiths.

IIRC, many professional smut writers do it for the $$$ so they can afford to do more artistic/academic writing. They know how to write well, but they may not put the effort into quality the way they would for other works.

"What the... No body can bend like... This is against the laws of alicorns, Equestria, and physics!"

Oh man, imagine Twi accidentally sending the book (or an excerpt) off to Princess Celestia. And her reaction when she realizes what she did.

Well  Petina wasn't planning on giving Twilight the entire book to her. Instead Petina will split the book up into sections and then assign different parts to each one of the Mane Six based on their areas of knowledge and expertise. This way Petina can get the most constructive criticism from each of them.

Besides Petina has only has one copy of it right now, so by dividing it up she can get more feedback quicker.

Oh but there is lots of action and Lady Fairhooves has quite a few adventures in the novel, and yet in spite of all that it is still very plot-driven.Wink/Razz

(Should have added this to the first entry, sorry.) Of course, it could be worse. Rarity is probably reading it. Imagine her little sis and the CMC have to do a book report for Cheerilee. They find the Lady Fairhooves book and do a report on it, asking what all the strange words and phrases mean.

And then half the mares in Ponyville descend on Petina bearing a rope.

Geez, from that impact, it's a miracle she wasn't killed outright, or at least suffer something along the lines of having a fair amount of the front half of her skeletal structure shattered, especially with the going theory among most bronies stating that pegasi have lighter, more fragile skeletal structures akin to birds (not sure if that's the case in your reality or not though).

I don't think they are lighter. Its thanks to their magic that thay can fly and endure accidents that would kill other creatures. Many times in the show we saw Rainbow Dash to hit walls, ground, tree and she survived without injury. Even Flutershy made hole in a tree. So no i dont think they are lighter. If they had lighter bones they would be still in hospital because pegasus tend to have lot of accidents.
