I will teach you

Great progress has been made in my Equestria dreamscape. Once they were able to develop an effective strategy link Luna and Applebloom were able to begin quickly removing the remaining nightmare seeds/spells from Applebloom’s dream fabric. Where Luna had been only able to remove one seed a week, now she was removing five or seven in a session. Finally one evening Luna was able to exit from Applebloom’s dream state and inform the Apple family that to the best of her knowledge the little filly was now purged of all remnants of the Deception. 

Luna had been certain that this evening would be the final session so she had scheduled an early visit to Sweet Apple Acres. She wanted all of the Apple family to be awake when she delivered the good news. Even little Applebloom was woken up for the event. That evening there was a celebration the likes of which had not happened at Sweet Apple Acres in quite a while. Along with the Apple family the Mane Six, myself, Petina and Carousel were present to hear the good news. Laughter, cheers and singing went on long into the night. The long nightmare was over for the Apple family. Finally they could put that horrifying day in orchards behind them once and for all.link

Luna was chatting with Applejack when she spied out of the corner of her eye Applebloom quietly stepping out the front door with an odd expression on her face. Politely excusing herself she followed the little filly outside.

The butter cream yellow filly was sitting on front porch staring up at the night sky with a sad expression on her face. The Princess of the Night came and sat down next to her.

“Care to share your thoughts with your fellow team member?” Asked Luna in a cheery voice. Applebloom looked up at Luna with a little smile on her face.

“Now that we’ve removed the last spell seed from me I’m just yer weekly astronomy student. Ya don’t need a team member anymore.” Sighed the filly.  “Ya don’t need me for any fancy, dangerous adventures anymore. I’m cured now.  Now I’m just an ordinary filly.” Applebloom’s eyes were filled with a strange mixture sadness and regret.  

Luna extended her deep cobalt blue right wing pulled the little filly close to her. Applebloom snuggled into the downy feather of Luna’s wing and closed her eyes. The princess lowered her head and nuzzled the little filly’s mane. The little filly smelled of cedar, apples, and Snickerdoodles. Softly Luna spoke.

“You’ll never be just an ordinary pony to me Applebloom. You are one of the most amazing ponies I have met in all my centuries in this world. I am so happy I have gotten the chance to know you.”

Luna had intended to discuss the topic first with the Applebloom’s family first before mentioning it to the little filly, but she decided to abandon that plan.

“So you think that I no longer have a desire or a need for your companionship anymore Little Bloom? You think that our little adventures across the dream realm have come to an end. Am I correct?”

The little filly lifted her head and stared into Luna cool jade eyes. “Yes. Yes that’s what I’m a thinking. Yer a very busy pony and ya don’t have time to running around the dream realm all the time. Ya got things ya need to do.”

Applebloom rested her head against Luna’s chest. Luna was warm and her coat was silky to the touch. The little filly could hear the princess’s strong, steady heartbeat, it reminded the little filly of her big sister’s.

Luna looked down at the little filly and smiled. “You are correct, I am a very busy pony. My position in the government requires my attention in several different fields, and Equestria has grown much more vast in years of my absence. In fact I sometimes find very hard to perform my role as the Defender of Dreams, but it is a necessary office that needs to be performed. However until recently there has been nopony who could assist me with it. Even my sister for all her knowledge and power is not adept at it.”

“However, I recently discovered a pony who in all my years has shown the greatest potential to help me with this responsibility.” link Luna leaned forward and stared into Applebloom’s caramel brown eyes.  “That pony is you Applebloom. It is my hope, with your family’s permission, that you’ll agree to let me instruct you further in the arcane aspects of the dream realm, and I do hope that someday you may be able act as an assistant of my office. “Luna smiled at the filly. “Interested?”

Luna had barely finished the last words when Applebloom jumped up and threw her front hoofs around the princess’s neck and hugged her.   

“Yes!” Squealed the filly in glee. “Yes I am!”
