I may be wet but my Martini is still dry.

Feeling better today but still a bit under the weather. Have more Rosemary. This was originally a commission I did years ago that also ended up being a cover for an issue of Radio Comix anthology comic Furrlough.

There were several things about this piece I was proud about. One felt I did a good job of shallow moving water in the picture and color changes between objects above and below the surface. I also had some success creating the effect of water dripping off her and the water flowing around the rocks and her legs. It is not raging white waters but neither is it a still lake.

This was one of first pictures where I really tried to research the background before beginning. The setting is Africa so I studied lots of photos and several sketches before proceeding with the piece. I think it helped.

Finally I was proud of Rosemary's gear and outfit. Yeah it is pulp adventure pinup, but tried to keep many of the smaller items on her as accurate to late 19th century British as possible. Things like the canteen are based on late 19th century British Army designs. Also she looks like she's wearing wet clothes.

 If there is one thing I wish I had done better job on it would be the Martini-Henry rifle. I'm very happy with the coloring of it, but after I finished it I realized that it was too long. I had meant for her to be carrying a carbine, and instead I got something that was too long for a carbine and too short for a rifle. Ah who knows, maybe in this universe the British manufactured a short rifle for use by engineers and artillery crews.
