Her Main squeeze by Baron-Engel Her Main squeeze by Baron-Engel
This jumping a bit ahead in my Andur dreamscape. This is a scene from a dream I had several years ago. Here we see Petina spending some quality time with one of her friends in the Sultan's city. His name is Zamoor and to Petina he is a creature of myth and legend. A talking serpent.

The Event which resulted in the explosion of intelligent beings on earth not only uplifted mammals and birds, but some reptiles. In particular snakes. However as the magic waned in the world at the end of the Middle Ages the reptiles were the first to feel its effect. By the end of 15th Century they had all reverted back to their original state and their civilizations became the stuff of history and legend.

Now most mice and rats are not keen of snakes since some species are known to eat them. That said almost everything larger than a cockroach has apparently eaten a mouse or a rat at some point. But Petina is not your ordinary mouse and along with being a partner in several business enterprises Zamoor and Petina have had several casual flings in bed. Here we see the two of them relaxing and chit-chatting. It should be noted that in our world Zamoor's species is that of Red Tail Rat Snake. What can I say Petina likes to take risks sometimes.

Zamoor's magical talent has led him to the profession of gem appraiser, and his appraisals carry a lot of weight in Andur and beyond. Petina has used his professional services on several occasions and for both parties it has been a pleasant and profitable experience.

This piece was done with my usual mixture of colored pencil, marker, technical pen, and gouache. The working surface is vellum finish Bristol Board and was about 12"x 16" in size.

I'll have to say that Zamoor knows how to lift Petina's -- er, "spirits." (Looks at how her T-shirt is buoyed.) Yeah, I'll go with "spirits."

You've got me wondering if there's a section of Andur built to mouse / snake scale. If so, I'd expect it to be mostly protected against biggem intrusion and probably reminiscent of Lilliput to the latter. (With biggum spaces suggesting Swift's Brobdingnag.)

"Several casual flings in bed?" I'm not even gonna ask how that would work. I'm sure the answer would disturb me. That being said, wonderfull work. Damn shame though about the snakes losing their intelligence. Is there any risk of that happening to the mice or the other sentiants of your worlds?

No apparently the results of The Event seem to have had the most impact on mammals. No one knows why but theories abound. Although many experts do believe that by their very form mice and rats must be very strongly linked to what was magic, they do not appear to be in a risk of going away. Not even in the 24th century.

In fact the mammals that seem to be in the greatest risk are the larger species like the elephants. This and the fact mice and rats were some of the greatest users of magic when it was available as a usable force. This has caused some people to speculate that maybe body mass plays some factor in the equation. Some theories speculate that every individual of an intelligent species has the same amount residual magic in them. However if your larger it gets spread out more because of your body mass. This is why Rosemary's hair goes pop [link] . Most people can't do anything useful with but it is still there as part of the environment.

I'd postulate that it's something to do with general brain organization along with body build and glandular properties that permitted the retention of the uplift to some and took it away from others.

You would not be only one in that world for believing that. Many a study, report, graduate thesis has explored that angle. Unfortunately no one has found the conclusive smoking gun to put the argument to rest.

"Squeak" indeed... Are there a lot of talking snakes in Andur, or just this one?

There a few more snakes in the city, but many folks are not fond of them. Primarily that is do to the Vizabom Empire to the south of Andur, but I'll talk more about that in another posting.

Hm, interesting :3

So far, the whole Andur thing is kind of vague to me... Is there any coherent storyline like the MLP scape?

There have been seven major dream arcs in Andur. Unfortunately I did not document them or my Angel and Knight dreamscape as throughly I have my Equestria dreamscape, and since I have over fifteen years of dreams from Andur I will be describing things in a more general fashion.
