This jumping a bit ahead in my Andur dreamscape. This is a scene from a dream I had several years ago. Here we see Petina spending some quality time with one of her friends in the Sultan's city. His name is Zamoor and to Petina he is a creature of myth and legend. A talking serpent.
The Event which resulted in the explosion of intelligent beings on earth not only uplifted mammals and birds, but some reptiles. In particular snakes. However as the magic waned in the world at the end of the Middle Ages the reptiles were the first to feel its effect. By the end of 15th Century they had all reverted back to their original state and their civilizations became the stuff of history and legend.
Now most mice and rats are not keen of snakes since some species are known to eat them. That said almost everything larger than a cockroach has apparently eaten a mouse or a rat at some point. But Petina is not your ordinary mouse and along with being a partner in several business enterprises Zamoor and Petina have had several casual flings in bed. Here we see the two of them relaxing and chit-chatting. It should be noted that in our world Zamoor's species is that of Red Tail Rat Snake. What can I say Petina likes to take risks sometimes.
Zamoor's magical talent has led him to the profession of gem appraiser, and his appraisals carry a lot of weight in Andur and beyond. Petina has used his professional services on several occasions and for both parties it has been a pleasant and profitable experience.
This piece was done with my usual mixture of colored pencil, marker, technical pen, and gouache. The working surface is vellum finish Bristol Board and was about 12"x 16" in size.
