Description

This image is neither canon to official Hasbro storyline or to my own Equestria dreamscape although it does have a reoccurring character from my dreams. The Mare goes by the name of Cogs and she is the daughter of one of the local millers. This image is part of a continuing series of ponies on motorcycles.

One of the consistent aspects of my Equestria dreams is the vibrancy of the land. The realm is rich and saturated with life; even the light from the sun and moon seems to bath the land in glorious illumination. Therefore any art I did of the Royal Sisters realm would use a different color palette from what I normally use. Instead of using browns and neutral tones for my landscapes i would substitute purples, violets and pinks. If a green or earth tone was needed I would use most vibrants ones I could tastefully employ to help maintain this feeling of richness.

Also I had to remember how my dreams interpret the fantastical landscapes of the show. The geography is still very dramatic in spots especially around Canterlot where the mountains feel like the Colorado Rockies, with deciduous trees slowly replaced with conifers. These forests and scrub climb up the sides of slopes until they to end leaving only rough faces of granite. For this picture I decided it was early autumn afternoon as the Celestia's sun slowly begins its descent to the horizon.

To those motorcycle fans out there on DA, yes I know a rigid frame V-Twin chopper is not the best choice for riding on a macadam road, but Cogs figured if some pegasi mare could do it [link] so could she! I am very happy how the candy apple orange paint job came out on the bike and the chaps definitely flatter Cogs flanks. In fact the chaps are about the only place in the entire picture that I used any true black. Every thing else was mixtures of brown, violet, reds and greens. The piece is done in my usual mixture of color pencil, marker, technical pen and a small amount of gouache.

Finally to answer the question that might be some of my watchers minds I did set this up so you can use it as a wallpaper if you want. Just don't go a crop my signature or the legalese on the bottom of the image please. Enjoy.
